• BTT™ and Family Planning
BTT™ measurement can be used for the continuous monitoring of basal temperature of patients at home for family planning using a natural, safe and drug-free method. This would primarily be of great utility during sleep because ovulation is identified by basal temperature measured in the very early morning at approximately 5 AM.
A significant improvement in family planning can be achieved by providing a device for
continuous monitoring of basal temperature as provided by the BTT, which offers a natural
and safe alternative for human reproductive needs.
Before BTT, the preferred method of taking a newborn's and young infant's temperature (under 3 months) has been the rectal thermometer. Today the BTT offers a preferred method of monitoring newborn, infant and children's temperature, which is not only more accurate, but is also easier to administer and more comfortable for the patient.
These same features make BTT the choice for temperature monitoring for the elderly and for chronic care patients. Indeed, as the baby boomer generation moves into the eldercare market, the need for a more effective and cost efficient monitoring system will become that much more important and presents an enormous market opportunity for the BTT technology.
| Young children cannot regulate their body temperature in the same way that adults do and can easily become too hot. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as Cot Death, is more common in babies who have become overheated.
The "old" advice has been: "To check if your baby is too hot, place your hand on the back of his or her neck. Your baby should not be sweating. Use lightweight blankets which you can add or take away according to the temperature." As mentioned in the above article, parents would have to add or take away blankets, but the key parameter is the child's body temperature, not room temperature. To achieve the safety needed to preserve the child's life, parents would have to be up all night putting on and removing blankets to match the body temperature needs. All of those imprecise, labor intensive and manual means to check a child's temperature can be replaced by a precise, continuous and automated system, now within reach with the discovery of the Brain Temperature Tunnel. |
